About Sonetics

Wireless crew headsets that cut through 100+ dB of diesel and PTO noise

All Sonetics headsets include certified hearing protection, so the same piece of equipment that enables crew voice also keeps OSHA-compliant dB exposure down. Unlike voice-assisted or push-to-talk systems, Sonetics uses full-duplex audio, which means everyone on the channel can talk and listen at the same time, the way a normal conversation works. No button-holding, no missed replies, no half-heard coordination at the hose reel.

For sewer cleaning, hydro excavation, and pipeline inspection crews, the payoff is minutes saved per setup and ear protection that actually gets worn. Brown Equipment Company sells Sonetics systems into our combo truck, hydro vac, and camera truck customers across Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Frequently Asked

Sonetics: Common Buyer Questions

Answers to the questions municipal fleets and contractors ask most often before specifying Sonetics equipment.

What is the difference between Sonetics Apex, DuraCom, and Summit?
Apex is the flagship wireless system with the longest range and highest user count, targeted at teams that spread out across a job site. DuraCom is a DECT-based system built for the harshest industrial environments, typically the right choice for maintenance bays and heavy manufacturing. Summit is tuned for fleet and construction crews that need rugged wireless at a lower per-headset cost.
How many crew members can connect on one Sonetics system?
The Apex base supports up to 6 crew headsets on a single channel in full-duplex voice. Larger crews can bridge systems or move to DuraCom for higher counts. For a typical municipal sewer combo truck or hydro vac operating with a 2 to 4 person crew, a single Apex channel covers the whole crew.
Can Sonetics headsets be worn with a hard hat?
Yes. Sonetics offers over-the-head, behind-the-head, and hard hat mount configurations so the headset integrates with existing head protection instead of replacing it. This matters for crews operating where hard hats are required, including confined-space entry and overhead-utility work.
Does Sonetics hearing protection meet OSHA requirements?
Sonetics headsets carry a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22 dB, which meets OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 hearing conservation requirements for most municipal operations when the headset is worn correctly. Actual protection depends on fit and environmental dB level. For crews operating near sustained 100+ dB noise sources (jetter pumps, vac blowers), Sonetics headsets are designed to serve as the primary hearing PPE.
