Choosing the right sewer jetter
Flow and pressure do different jobs
Flow (GPM) moves debris down the line while pressure (PSI) cuts through grease and roots. Match both to your typical line diameter and blockage type rather than chasing a single headline number.
Trailer or truck-mounted
Trailer jetters deliver mainline pressure behind a pickup with no CDL, so a smaller crew can cover laterals and easements. Combination and truck jetters carry more water and recover debris in the same pass for heavy municipal duty.
Water capacity drives uptime
A jetter only works while it has water. Larger onboard or trailer tanks mean fewer trips to refill on long runs, and combination trucks can add water recycling to stretch a tank further.
Nozzles matter as much as the machine
The right nozzle turns the same pump into a root cutter, a grease remover, or a debris mover. We match nozzles and hose to the work, not just the truck.

Sewer Jetter Equipment: Common Questions
- How much pressure and flow do I need in a sewer jetter?
- It depends on the work. Higher flow (GPM) carries debris out of larger mains, while higher pressure (PSI) cuts grease and roots. A BEC specialist will size both to your line diameters and the blockages you deal with most.
- Do I need a CDL to operate a sewer jetter?
- Not always. Many trailer jetters can be towed with a standard three-quarter-ton pickup and no CDL, while larger combination and truck-mounted units are chassis-mounted and typically require a CDL. We can point you to the right class for your crew.
- Can a jetter clear roots and grease, or only soft blockages?
- With the right nozzle and enough pressure, a jetter clears grease, sediment, and root intrusion, not just soft stoppages. Nozzle selection is what tailors the same machine to each job.
- What is the difference between a trailer jetter and a combination sewer truck?
- A trailer jetter brings mainline jetting power behind a pickup for laterals and smaller mains. A combination truck jets and vacuums in one pass, recovering debris for high-volume mainline work. See our dedicated pages for each type to compare.
