This 2024 Stepp Manufacturing SMMT Trailer Mounted Master Mixer Asphalt Recycler is a demo unit that recycles millings into hot mix at up to 350 F, producing up to 1 ton per hour, even at ambient temperatures as low as 20 F. It processes 5 cu ft batches (approximately 500 lb) with a batch time of 8 to 15 minutes to reach 300 to 350 F depending on moisture content.

Single-axle trailer mounted design
The unit features a rotating pugmill mixer with a replaceable Endura wear-resistant steel liner and a variable-speed hydraulic drive. Material is loaded via a 16 in wide cleated chevron conveyor with hydraulic forward and reverse. Heat is supplied indirectly by a Beckett forced-air diesel burner rated at 275,000 BTU, with 2 in fiberglass plus 2 in Cerwool insulation. The trailer is a single-axle unit weighing approximately 3,650 lb, measuring 166 in L x 78 in W x 85 in H, and uses approximately 1.5 to 3 gallons of oil additive per ton of recycled millings.
