Why This Unit

Hydro excavation trades raw volume for precision. A 600-gallon debris tank and dual water tanks satisfy throughput, but the real work happens at 5.5 GPM and 3,500 PSI: enough flow to cut and suspend soil, low enough gallonage to fit a trailer behind a pickup without a CDL. Operators who undersize GPM end up chasing pressure; those who oversize GPM waste fuel and miss sensitivity. This unit splits the difference by design.

600-gallon debris tank handles high-volume excavation in a single-truck setup

5.5 GPM at 3,500 PSI pump delivers both cutting power and flow control for precision work

Dual 120-gallon water tanks mounted low on sides keep center of gravity stable and towing weight within pickup limits

6-way hydraulic articulating boom reaches tight utility corridors and slopes without repositioning the trailer

No CDL required: tandem axles and trailer format eliminate licensing barriers and reduce fuel cost versus a full-sized hydro truck

The HYDRO-SPADE 600 pairs a 600-gallon debris tank with dual 120-gallon side-mounted water tanks and a 5.5 GPM at 3,500 PSI pump. A 6-way hydraulic articulating boom gives the operator full range for potholing, slot ditching, and utility locating work. Built as a tandem-axle trailer with no CDL requirement, the unit tows behind a standard pickup and starts working the same day. New condition, stock 079124, VIN 2H9HVATD7SG079124.

Right for your operation if you deal with

Risk of hitting buried gas, electric, or fiber lines with mechanical digging

Costly damage claims and project shutdowns from utility strikes

Regulations requiring non-destructive excavation near existing utilities

Frozen ground in winter that stops conventional excavation

About This 2025 HYDRO-SPADE 600 Gallon Hydro Excavation Trailer

What's the difference between 5.5 GPM at 3,500 PSI and higher-flow hydro units?
This unit prioritizes precision and fuel efficiency over raw volume. At 5.5 GPM, you control the cut tightly for utility locating and slot ditching without overspreading soil or wasting water. Higher-flow units (8+ GPM) move more cubic yards per hour but require more pump horsepower and heavier trailers. Choose based on job type: potholing and utility work favor lower GPM; high-volume excavation favors larger systems.
Can I tow this unit with a standard pickup?
Yes. The tandem-axle trailer, dual side-mounted water tanks, and 600-gallon debris tank are designed to balance weight for pickup towing. You do not need a CDL. Always verify your specific pickup's towing specs and tongue weight rating with the manufacturer.
What kind of work can the 6-way articulating boom reach?
The 6-way boom allows forward, reverse, left, right, up, and down movement, giving you full operator control for potholing around existing utilities, reaching into narrow trenches, working slopes, and adjusting nozzle angle without moving the trailer. This makes it ideal for congested job sites where repositioning is costly or unsafe.
How long can I run a full tank of water?
With 240 gallons of water total (dual 120-gallon tanks) at 5.5 GPM output, you can run approximately 44 minutes of continuous water flow before refilling. Actual runtime depends on how you cycle the pump and nozzle during work.
What parts and service support is available?
Brown Equipment stocks HYDRO-SPADE replacement parts and provides service for this unit at every BEC location across the Midwest. Parts availability and service turnaround are designed to keep you working.
