See what's wrong before it becomes an emergency
RapidView IBAK builds the camera systems, lateral launch platforms, and inspection software that municipal sewer and stormwater crews use to find defects before they become emergencies. IBAK (the German engineering side of the partnership) has been building pipeline inspection cameras since 1945. RapidView (the US arm in Rochester, Indiana) distributes, integrates, and supports the platform across North America with the largest CCTV inspection support team in the country. The result is HD camera footage in pipes from 2-inch laterals up to 78-inch trunk mains, all coded directly to PACP / NASSCO standards your engineers can defend.
The portfolio is structured around four equipment lines. Mainline crawler systems (Orpheus HD, ROVION, Panoramo) cover routine and condition-assessment inspection on lines from 6 inches up. Push cameras (LISY 4 + handheld lines) reach 2 to 12 inch laterals where a crawler can't go, with self-leveling heads and built-in sonde locating for the defect point. Lateral launch (LISY series) inspects the service connection from the mainline so a crew can document a whole street's laterals without setting up at every cleanout. Rehabilitation tools (MicroGator) remove protruding taps and intruding roots from the inside without an excavator. IKAS Evolution stitches it all together: defect coding, video, photos, and report export in PACP/NASSCO format an engineer accepts on the first pass.
Brown Equipment Company is an authorized RapidView IBAK dealer. We sell the full platform, train your inspection crew on the software and the field workflow, and stock the wear parts (wheels, lights, cable terminations) that go through these systems on a normal duty cycle. When a camera or controller fails on a job, the same factory-trained shop that delivered it handles the repair.

RapidView IBAK: Common Buyer Questions
Answers to the questions municipal fleets and contractors ask most often before specifying RapidView IBAK equipment.
- What is the difference between a push camera and a crawler?
- A push camera is a self-contained rod-and-camera assembly an operator pushes by hand through a lateral or small line, usually 2 to 6 inches and up to several hundred feet of run. A crawler is a motorized tractor (Orpheus HD, ROVION) that drives itself down a mainline 6 inches and up, towing camera and lighting on a tether for thousands of feet of run. Push cameras handle laterals from a cleanout; crawlers handle mainline and condition-assessment work. Most departments run both.
- What is a lateral launch system?
- A lateral launch system (LISY 4 from IBAK) inspects the service connection from inside the mainline. The crawler tows a small secondary camera that the operator steers up each lateral as it passes the tap. A single mainline run captures the mainline plus every lateral on the block in one shift, instead of setting up at every cleanout. The win is hours per block on systematic condition-assessment programs.
- Is IKAS Evolution PACP and NASSCO compliant?
- Yes. IKAS Evolution codes defects directly to PACP (Pipeline Assessment Certification Program) and NASSCO standards, exports reports in the format engineers and asset managers expect, and stores the inspection video alongside the defect log so a reviewer can re-confirm a code without going back to the truck. The point is reports your engineer accepts on the first pass, not the third revision.
- What is Panoramo and how is it different from a regular camera?
- Panoramo captures the full 360 degrees inside the pipe at every position as it travels, instead of relying on the operator to pan and tilt at each defect. The full surround footage is saved, so a reviewer can re-inspect any section from any angle without sending the crew back to the line. It speeds up the field run (no stopping to point the camera) and gives the engineering team complete coverage for post-inspection review and condition-assessment scoring.
- What pipe diameters does the RapidView lineup cover?
- From 2-inch laterals (push cameras) through 12-inch household and service connections, into mainlines from 6 inches up to 78-inch trunk lines (crawler systems). Specific reach varies by chassis and tether length. BEC can scope the right tool to your typical inspection mix.
- What service and parts support does BEC offer for RapidView IBAK?
- We're an authorized RapidView IBAK dealer with factory-trained service technicians and stocked wear parts (wheels, lighting, cable terminations, camera heads) at our Midwest service centers. We also train inspection crews on IKAS Evolution and the field workflow so a new operator is productive on the first job, not the fifth.
